Fishing, Boating, outdoor activities that are featured at the Canadian Outdoor Recreation Expo

Thinking Summer!

They are thinking summer in Quinte West these days even as winter waves a frosty hand and local arenas hum with activity. The first Canadian Outdoor Recreation-Ex has been given a boost by receiving lead sponsorship from the City of Quinte West and the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce and show organizers are beginning the process of recruiting exhibitors and community participation.

The event will take place July 18-19-20 at Centennial Park in Trenton, utilizing both arenas, a large area of the park, the boat launches and part of the community dock area.

Glenn Dredhart, President of Canadian Trade-Ex, the company organizing the show, says the combination of indoor, outdoor and water areas makes Centennial Park perfect for a show with lots of demos. “It's ideal for exhibitors and visitors, and particularly important with the outdoor recreation theme. We'll be showcasing activities that will appeal to all ages.”

Suzanne Andrews, Manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, says the show fits perfectly with the Chamber’s goal of promoting Quinte West as a great place to live and do business. “Outdoor recreation is one of the main reasons people love this area and we look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors to the show next summer to experience all the natural attractions we have to offer.”

Paul Whitley, Chair of the Quinte West Economic Development & Revitalization Committee, says the event will help draw attention to Quinte West as a place to do business. “Exhibitors who may be ready for relocation or expansion will see what a great community we have here.”

Other tangible benefits to the community will come from the participation of service clubs and community groups who will fill roles during the event and operate fundraising activities. Those with events to promote will find an audience for that too.

Trade-Ex has a local person to work with community groups, service and hobby clubs and to hear from people who may have recreational activity ideas that are new and innovative.
